The landmark study by Daoutakou and Kintzios, entitled "The Role of Pharmacies in Providing Point-of-Care Services in the Era of Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence: An Updated Review of Technologies, Regulation and Socioeconomic Considerations" (Healthcare 2026, 14, 309), which presents the first comprehensive roadmap for the transformation of pharmacies into primary diagnostic care centers, was featured as a main topic in the largest professional magazine for German pharmacists, Die erfolgreiche Apotheke (Issue 2/26, pp. 22–23)
The article concludes as follows:
“The Greek review study demonstrates the direction in which the international discussion is evolving — and the strategic questions that consequently arise for the German reality as well.
What is truly decisive is not the test itself, but the new role of the pharmacy: not merely as a dispensing point, but as a site of structured healthcare delivery.
The real question, therefore, is not whether pharmacies can perform diagnostic testing, but whether they can transform this capability into a credible and economically sustainable service.”
Greek research is international — and it continues to prove it!
